UK will get beaten badly by Tennessee in Lexington tonight.

it will be the worst start by a UK team since 1927.

WAY TO GO, "Coach" billyg.

The Kentucky Wildcats and Illinois Fighting Illini are going down similar paths this year.

They have some talent, but not enough to play a solid 40 minutes against an NCAA bound team.

Enough for Illini to lead at Purdue by 8 at halftime only to lose by 7.

Enough for Kentucky to force overtime at Florida only to lose by 11.

They can both play well for stretches, but a game is 40 minutes (sometimes more).

Most of the fans are hanging their hats on the talent coming in next year, but I think you want to see something in the way of wins this year!

You guys bet Vandy, but couldn't parlay that into any more wins against Miss. St or Florida.

Neither UK or UI will be going to the NCAAs this year barring conference tournament upsets.

The programs both need to make the NCAA tournament in 2008-09 or neither coach will be there in 2009-10!

Kentucky fans are a joke.

The team has zero talent this year and is playing in the second toughest conference in America. The Vols are a legit final four team, while the Cats have no business even being in the NIT discussion this year. Drink your humble juice this season and get ready to kick ass again next year. Billy can coach, just be patient.

Just upset Tennessee.

Good job Wildcats!

How did them words tastee when they went back in your mouth. Coach Billy has finally brought some toughness to a team that had lost it and just playing on the reputation of Ky basketball. You have to remember that he is playing with one guy and he recruited him. Tubby was a great X's and O's coach but sucked at recruiting and that is what Billy is playing with. Give him a couple of years and you will be kissing his butt instead of dogging it.

Coach Gillespie is doing a great job.  How many top 25 teams did we beat in Tubby Smiths last 2 seasons.  I think none.  We have beaten 2 this season, and its barely half over.  Next time you try to run someone into the ground, at least have some substance to what you're going to say!

Tubby sucked at recruiting??   he AVERAGED at top 15 recruiting class every year.

Tubby's biggest problem was that he couldn't replace Chuck Hayes.

The class that are Seniors now at UK were the #1 recruiting class in the nation.    I'm not sure how that sucks.

Substance?   How about Billy didn't even show an adjustment until the Tennessee game.

Granted, He has shown some coaching ability, but it would have been nice to see some of that earlier in the year.

When UK loses at home to GW and San Diego, that's substance enough to question what's going on in Lexington.  And since those 2 losses will more than likely keep UK out of the NCAA tourny, I think my complaints are justified.

I will say that UK seems to be on the right track now, but we'll see how they play on the road.   I hope UK wins out the schedule, but only time will tell.

About The state of the UK basketball program.
UGH. OK, I was (and still am) a huge Tubby supporter. Those "fans" who didn't want his 26 wins a year, sweet 16 average, NCAA tourny every year, I hope you are happy. He is showing his stuff at Minnesota. And yes, with OTS this year, UK would have still lost 3-4 games, but not 8 by January 15. Now, on to UK's new head coach, Billy Clyde Gillispie. I really can't figure this guy out. Losing to prove a point? Not playing zone defense when it was really needed? I will say that by today, (January 16) I do see some improvement in the team, but the losses keep piling up. the losses that still kill me are Gardner Webb, San Diego, and UAB. Gillispie was flat out-coached. I do think that things will get better. NEXT UP, UK vs Florida @ the Waffle House.
